STUCK ON YOU #2

The Stones: "Sympathy For the Devil"

"Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste."

THE MAN OF MY DREAMS

Today was a day like most days, except one particular thing; a guy. When I got on the subway today I sat down beside two retro guys, nice lookin' outfits, cute. One of them were more than cute, he was almost perfect in my eyes. he had a very rare style; a gray fedora, shoulder-length dark-blond hair, a small mustache, gorgeously tanned, a worn-out tight jeans jacket, a thin black and white striped men's tank top, worn-out tight black jeans (I think), colored tattoos on his arms and a ring on his index finger (which he kept playing with all the time). I didn't get a good look from his waist down because I kept looking at his wonderful face, and I didn't want to stare of course :) He looked like he could have fit in with The Stones during the late 60's. Gorgeous, wonderful man. Me and Cris are hopefully goin out next weekend to see if we might spot him somewhere around the retro places in the south, and to have a good time of course (; Long time since, gonna be fun!

So if you're out there, say hello will ya! A woman is going mad for your good looks ♥

STUCK ON YOU #1

You know when you've heard a song, you might not even like it (but deep down you do, you know you do), it get's stuck. I usually sing the same lines over and over, and it's the same lines. And then I move on to the next song and kill everyone around me like a repeated tape. Well, right now I have this line in my head from Jumpin' Jack Flash by The Stones (of course), and I even do the Jagger-head swing and his groovy moves that goes along with it:

" I was born in a cross-fire hurricane. "

ENGLISH CINEMA

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
and Son of Rambow are two of my favorite films. There's something about English cinema that I truly admire and love. These two films just draws the eye, whether you want it or not.

LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS (1998)

Four Jack-the-lads find themselves heavily - seriously heavily - in debt to an East End hard man and his enforcers after a crooked card game. Overhearing their neighbors in the next flat plotting to hold up a group of out-of-their-depth drug growers, our heroes decide to stitch up the robbers in turn. In a way the confusion really starts when a pair of antique double-barreled shotguns go missing in a completely different scam.

This film reminds me a bit of "Snatch" but I think this one's even better. The lines, the footage, the music. Excellence!

SON OF RAMBOW (2007)

SON OF RAMBOW is the name of the home movie made by two little boys with a big video camera and even bigger ambitions. Set on a long English summer in the early 80's, SON OF RAMBOW is a comedy about friendship, faith and the tough business of growing up. We see the story through the eyes of Will, the eldest son of a fatherless Plymouth Brethren family. The Brethren regard themselves as God's 'chosen ones' and their strict moral code means that Will has never been allowed to mix with the other 'worldlies,' listen to music or watch TV, until he finds himself caught up in the extraordinary world of Lee Carter, the school terror and maker of bizarre home movies. Carter exposes Will to a pirate copy of Rambo: First Blood and from that moment Will's mind is blown wide open and he's easily convinced to be the stuntman in Lee Carters' diabolical home movie. Will's imaginative little brain is not only given chance to flourish in the world of film making, but is also very handy when it comes to dreaming up elaborate schemes to keep his partnership with Lee Carter a secret from the Brethren community. Will and Carter's complete disregard for consequences and innocent ambition means that the process of making their film is a glorious roller coaster that eventually leads to true friendship. They start to make a name for themselves at school as movie makers but when popularity descends on them in the form of the Pied Piper-esque French exchange student, Didier Revol, their unique friendship and their precious film are pushed, quite literally, to breaking point.

A fantastic film, great little actors, love the language, amazing footage. This is a wonderful family film and you can watch it over and over again without getting bored.

DINNER WITH MARLON BRANDO

I just came off the phone with my uncle Håkan. We talked for over an hour and the major topic was about my trip to L.A. My uncle's been doing mostly documentaries, just like I want to do, so he will be a major support during these two years. He's also worked as a photographer; he's got stacks of photos of the Swedish Royal family back in the early 80's I think, great black and whites of for example Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.

In 1979 he went to Hollywood and stayed there for over two months to make a film and you know what he tells me: "I even had dinner with Marlon Brando once". Haha, talk about good luck! There was this actress he hung out with who knew the biggest names, took him to the hottest spots and the hottest parties where drugs were easier to get a hold of than a regular coke (and I mean coca-cola). I asked him to dig into his stacks with photos to see if he can get a hold of some pics from that time, so that I might put some up here, maybe :) Hopefully.

Anyway, he's coming over for and early dinner tomorrow and we have loads left to talk about, can't wait :D !

NEW MISSION

Alright so since I have a tendency to always learn something new I have decided to take on a new mission, starting today. I'm about to learn how to play the harmonica. Since I hear it all the time now days in my newly found music taste (blues rock) I figured I'd learn how to play it. And then I might take on the guitarr playing as well.

We'll see how it goes, wish me luck!

JUST

"SHINE A LIGHT"

Here's one of my favourites by the Stones. Unfortunately there aren't many videos of the group in the early days so you're gonna have to settle with this, but it's just as good :) Enjoy

The Rolling Stones with "Shine A Light"

YEAH BABY

My I-20 has been sent from Los Angeles California today, and that means that I will have it in time for my appointment at the American embassy in three weeks and THAT means that I will get my Visa and will move to L.A. as planned in the middle of September. Yeah BABY!

OLD GODS ALMOST DEAD

Okay so I turned the last page of Eric Clapton's autobiography today. It's been a really nice journey, but now I'm on to the next adventure; Old Gods Almost Dead: 40 Year Odyssey Of the Rolling Stones by Stephen Davis. Another one of my favorites; a biography.  624 pages with really small text. The only book I read that was that long was Michael Jackson: The Magic and the Madness by J. Randy Taraborelli (I can really recommend it) which I've read three times. Most auto/biographies are quite long, I like to think that they're better it they're long. How are you going to fit in even half of the lives otherwise?

We'll see for how long it'll keep my interest. Hopefully all the way :)

FOR THE RECORD: The Stones, "Sympathy For the Devil" 1969

Here's another great song from the Stones, a live performance from Hyde Park back in 1969; Sympathy For the Devil which you can find on their 1968 album Beggars Banquet. GOD he's sexy!

FOR THE RECORD: The Stones, "Let It Bleed.." "Exile On.."

I thought I'd tip you off with some good music again. For all of you who are not too familiar with the Rolling Stones, I've got two rockin' records for you; Let It Bleed (1969) and Exile On Main St (2010 remastered).

Let It Bleed by the Rolling Stones (1969)

My favourites on this album is "Gimme Shelter" "Midnight Rambler" and "You Can't Always Get What You Want"

Exile On Main St by the Rolling Stones (2010 remastered)

On this one I have a couple of favourites; "Rocks Off" (definitely the best one), "Rip This Joint", All Down the Line", "Stop Breaking Down", "Shine A Light", "Soul Survivor", and "Pass the Wine (Sophia Loren)

ROCK-SPRINGS

All the great rock stars are aging steadily and getting older and older until there comes a time when they're off to heaven or wherever they're goin'. Isn't it wonderful then that there are still, the ROCK-SPRINGS. I made a search on the sons of The Beatles and look at the resemblance of some of them. MARVELOUS! Just look at them :)

Dhani & George Harrison

Paul & James McCartney

Sean & John Ono Lennon

Ringo Starr & Zak Starkey

IT'S ON!

For a moment there I thought I wasn't going to Los Angeles like I've planned. There was some trouble with the school and the organization that is paying for my tuition. But we finally managed to to get around all of that by making some exceptions in my case, which I am very grateful for. So now I can finally relax and just wait for my I-20 to come so that I can get my Visa, finally! :) Then I'm off to the land of dreams, AMERICA you guys!

SARA DAY

Can you believe it? There is such a day as Sara Day, and therefore it's MY day today :) My two little sisters came by with a delicious strawberry and cream cake they had made. I was so happy that they and my mom had remembered, but then I found out that it was my mom who had told them both haha :) So I guess it was just like normal. But I actually remembered my own name day, that's unusual. But it's just bc I heard it on the news the other day :P

I was very glad that they came, and I definitely you should celebrate even the small things with a CAKE, that's what life is all about!

Thank you for this lovely evening girls! I love you both very much

FOR THE RECORD: Derek and the Dominos, "Layla.."

Derek and the Dominos' "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" CD cover

I thought I'd share some of my music with you guys. If you're into blues-rock, I've got the record for you!

Eric Clapton's been in a couple of different bands during the years, and in 1970 he founded the band "Derek and the Dominos" (whereas "Derek" is Eric) together with Bobby Whitlock, Jim Gordon, Carl Radle and Duane Allman. The first album they did was "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs". It's a great album and it totally lifts you up, right up off your feet. l love it, and I listen to it all the time.
My favourites on that album is "I Looked Away", "Bell Bottom Blues", "Keep On Growing", "Anyday" "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad", "Have You Ever Loved A Woman" and "Layla". That's almost the whole album haha! But anyway, there you have it. Great album!

Derek and the Dominos.
Left to right: Gordon, Randle, Whitlock & Clapton

Some fun facts about the album: A lot of the songs were written to a woman named Pattie Boyd (then wife of George Harrison), whom he was head over heals in love with and desperately tried to make his woman, for example "I Looked Away", "Bell Bottom Blues" and "Layla".

Pattie Boyd

Clapton, doing what he does best

And if you're like me then you might also like to know a thing or two about the man behind the music. Right now I'm reading Clapton's Autobiography where he doesn't leave anything of importance out. He tells about his past drug and alcohol addiction, the loss of his beautiful son Conor and his numerous relationships and infidelities. Clapton has lived an adventurous life to say the least and I'm very surprised, but certainly very happy, that he's still alive today.

The book has really touched me, especially the part on his son's tragic death, only at four little years old..

Conor & Clapton

As I was lookin' for pictures to put up here I found that Pattie Boyd has also written an autobiography. What's not better than getting both sides of the story, and she was in fact the wife of two great rock stars. Some life to write about, I want to read it!! I thought I was going to read about The Rolling Stones next, but if I get a hold of Patties life stories then I guess she's next up on my list of readings!

JAGGER - SMOOKIN' ROLLING STONE

"Oh you sexy sod"

MICK JAGGER was a real peice of meat back in the early days. If I woulda' gotten my hands on him then, woooooh!
No wonder he's been on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine plenty of times, 19 to be exact, following The Beatles who've been on there for over thirty times.

Here you have all the covers, dating back to 1968

WOODSTOCK AND ALL THAT STUFF

How great it is that there were people during different times who were concerned about future generations to know about what was goin on right then and there. I got a hold of a couple of DVDs the other day from the library here in town, one portrayin Woodstock during a period of three days and another one called "Festival Express" with Janis Joplin and Grateful Death among many others. I usually go to the different libraries around town to find documentaries of all kinds, especially music documentaries, and they have a loot of old shit! It's fantastic, I love it. Without all of these amazing documentaries we wouldn't be able to get the feel for what was happening then. Of course we can read about it and that's great, but seeing and hearing it is a whole other thing.

I'll be heading to return some DVDs to rent some others. This time I'm gonna see if I can get a hold of George Harrison's concert for Bangladesh, played in New York, with Eric Clapton (high as a cloud), among many other people, guest starring.

By the way, a little birdie on Twitter told me that Scorsese is making another music documentary, and this time it's on George Harrison. Lookin' forward to seeing it :)

So looong mafakkas!

LP-PARADISE

I was looking through my mothers old LP's the other day and I found a whole lot of 'em to be really nice music. Stacks with:

ERIC CLAPTON - THE BEATLES - CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL - GAYLE MCCORMICK - MOTOWN CLASSICS - JOHN LENNON - GEORG MCCRAE - IKE & TINA TURNER - THE MOODY BLUES - DIANA ROSS - ARETHA FRANKLIN - PAUL MCCARTNEY  - PAUL MCCARTNEY - PAUL MCCARTNEY - JOHNNY CASH - ABBA - MADONNA - ELVIS PRESLEY - GREASE SOUNDTRACK - BOB DYLAN - MARY TRAVERS - MICHAEL JACKSON - THE JACKSON 5 - DONNA SUMMER - RINGO STARR - WHITNEY HOUSTON - JERMAINE JACKSON - RICK ASTLEY - BONEY M - THE FOUR TOPS - THE TEMPS

and a lot more.

I also went to a couple of second hand CD shops around town and ran into JAMES BROWN: Collections - JANET JACKSON: The Velvet Rope - THE ROLLING STONES: Exile On Main St'' - THE HEAT OF SOUL: No2 - CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL: Best Of - JANIS JOPLIN: Pearl & JANIS JOPLIN: Janis Joplin's Greatest Hits (LP) - DEREK AND THE DOMINOS (THE ERIC CLAPTON REMASTERS): Layla

So this is pretty much what will keep me busy this summer; transforming LP to MP3 format, and listening to a whooooole lot of MUSIC
