FOR THE RECORD: Derek and the Dominos, "Layla.."

Derek and the Dominos' "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" CD cover

I thought I'd share some of my music with you guys. If you're into blues-rock, I've got the record for you!

Eric Clapton's been in a couple of different bands during the years, and in 1970 he founded the band "Derek and the Dominos" (whereas "Derek" is Eric) together with Bobby Whitlock, Jim Gordon, Carl Radle and Duane Allman. The first album they did was "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs". It's a great album and it totally lifts you up, right up off your feet. l love it, and I listen to it all the time.
My favourites on that album is "I Looked Away", "Bell Bottom Blues", "Keep On Growing", "Anyday" "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad", "Have You Ever Loved A Woman" and "Layla". That's almost the whole album haha! But anyway, there you have it. Great album!

Some fun facts about the album: A lot of the songs were written to a woman named Pattie Boyd (then wife of George Harrison), whom he was head over heals in love with and desperately tried to make his woman, for example "I Looked Away", "Bell Bottom Blues" and "Layla".

Pattie Boyd

Clapton, doing what he does best

And if you're like me then you might also like to know a thing or two about the man behind the music. Right now I'm reading Clapton's Autobiography where he doesn't leave anything of importance out. He tells about his past drug and alcohol addiction, the loss of his beautiful son Conor and his numerous relationships and infidelities. Clapton has lived an adventurous life to say the least and I'm very surprised, but certainly very happy, that he's still alive today.

The book has really touched me, especially the part on his son's tragic death, only at four little years old..

As I was lookin' for pictures to put up here I found that Pattie Boyd has also written an autobiography. What's not better than getting both sides of the story, and she was in fact the wife of two great rock stars. Some life to write about, I want to read it!! I thought I was going to read about The Rolling Stones next, but if I get a hold of Patties life stories then I guess she's next up on my list of readings!
